Safeguarding
Every person involved with Huskies Basketball has a legal and moral responsibility to protect young people from abuse and neglect. This includes:
- Players
- Coaches
- Volunteers
- Club Officials
- Parents/Carers
- Spectators
We expect all affiliates to recognise and accept their responsibility to be aware of the relevant principles and accountabilities commensurate with their position. Furthermore, all affiliates are expected to uphold our ethos to ensure that all members are:
- Allowed access to the game in a way that is appropriate for their age and ability.
- Coached and trained by appropriately qualified people.
- Not required to play in so many games, or to attend training sessions, as to become a threat to their wellbeing.
- Not subjected to verbal or discriminatory abuse from any source, especially from the bench and spectator gallery, including references to race, gender, height, weight, ability etc.
- Not subjected to bullying, threats, or undue pressure from any source.
- Encouraged to achieve their full potential at all levels.
- Instructed on how to behave, both on and off the court.
- Afforded respect and are valued in a playing and training situation and any other basketball environment.
- Supported in such a way that their safety and wellbeing always come first.
In order to uphold our legal and moral duties we:
- Have a Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.
- Ensure all coaches are DBS checked.
- Ensure all coaches have appropriate qualification.
- Ensure all coaches have access to information on members' medical and/or additional needs.
- Have a Code of Conduct.
- Have a Welfare Officer who can be contacted directly: Gill Kilburn 07939481628 gill.killburn@huskies-basketball.com
